- **Event Description**: Conceived and directed by Martín Santangelo and choreographed by Bessie Award-winning principal dancer Soledad Barrio and Martín Santangelo, "Searching For Goya" brings to life the extraordinary art of Francisco de Goya, revealing Goya’s scorching political criticisms and his penetrating examinations of the human condition.

Soledad Barrio & Noche Flamenca will perform "Searching for Goya" on Tuesday, March 3rd at 7 p.m. in the Wise County Performing Arts Center at J.W. Adams Combined School in Pound. Tickets are $15 at the door. Children and students get in free! A talkback will follow the performance. For more information and to make reservations, please visit proartva.org.

Inspired by Goya’s Graphic Imagination, Santangelo has brought to life Goya’s work through the language of flamenco. Featuring a company of dancers, singers, and musicians whose mastery of flamenco stretches the boundaries of the art form. The production consists of 10-12 vignettes inspired by Francisco de Goya’s paintings, featuring original music, wardrobe, and lighting design, as well as original mask design by world-renowned artist Mary Frank.

Goya’s work explores the human condition in ways that resonate deeply within the flamenco world, unveiling the complexities and contradictions that exist within us and captures the beauty and horrors that make us who we are.

Formed in 1993 by Martín Santangelo and his wife, Soledad Barrio, Noche Flamenca was born of passion and the desire to present the authentic form of flamenco to audiences across the globe. It has been hailed by critics for its transcendent and deeply emotional performances.
